Downtown Millburn, a non-profit organization, was established in 1992 as a Special Improvement District (SID) by the Millburn Township Committee. The mission of Downtown Millburn is to enhance the economic vitality and to improve the visual appearance of the downtown. The Paper Mill Playhouse and Greenwood Gardens.
Greenwood Gardens is a nonprofit 22-acre public garden located adjacent to Old Short Hills Park. The once private retreat (which features Italianate gardens, mossy pebbled walks, rough stone grottos and exceptional vistas) was the country estate of 20th-century real estate auctioneer Joseph P. Day. Later, the property became part of the estate of Peter P. Blanchard Jr., who preserved the original gardens. Greenwood is one of only 12 preservation projects of the Garden Conservancy, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of America’s exceptional gardens. www.greenwoodgardens.org

Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society, formed in 1975, fosters an ongoing community interest in its history, architecture and genealogy. The mission of the non-profit Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society is to encourage interest in local history, and to preserve and disseminate relevant information concerning Millburn Township. New Eyes for the Needy, was established in the Township more than 80 years ago, to provide new prescription eyeglasses for U.S. residents and to distribute used glasses to the disadvantaged in developing countries. The New Eyes office at 549 Millburn Avenue in Short Hills serves as a headquarters for sorting, testing and packaging used glasses and also hosts a Fabulous Finds Jewelry and Giftware Boutiques. www.neweyes.org
The Opportunity Project Clubhouse is a unique program created several decades ago by and for adults with brain injuries who are seeking the “next step” in their journey of recovery.
